I am channeling my inner Colleen Hoover and giving away a $69 Kindle!

My New HUGE  Kindle Giveaway

Okay, I just changed this original post - in order to keep in tune with the law - YOU DO NOT NEED TO LEAVE ME A REVIEW - I will be holding a Rafflecopter giveaway when I get 50 NEW reviews. So if you want to help me get to 50 - so that I may hold this giveaway - please do so. However, when I reach 50 reviews, I will hold a rafflecopter giveaway to ANYONE.

Today I had this awesome idea - and you can thank the awesome Colleen Hoover and one of my friends/followers (thanks, Debbie) for it. When I commented on one of Colleen's posts today, she actually replied back to me - twice! Then one my friends/followers commented on my posts saying she wished she had a kindle. My idea was born.

Channeling my inner Colleen Hoover and her awesome giveaways, I am having a huge giveaway myself. Well, huge for me. I am giving away one of those $69.00 Kindles. No purchase necessary. But I need to get 50 new reviews for any of my books in my Honor Trilogy. When I say no purchase necessary, I mean you can borrow it from a friend, either through loaning the physical book or loaning the kindle book. My books are eligible for loaning through Amazon's Kindle.

So...to paraphrase - when I get a total of 50 NEW (previous reviews prior to 2014 are not eligible) reviews on ONE of any of my Honor Trilogy books, either on Amazon (I know how many I have already - 18 on A Touch of Honor and 6 on A Man of Honor) or your book blog, I will give away this $69.00 Kindle to ONE lucky winner. Just leave a link to your review in the comments section below to enter (Only if you WANT to). That's it. Contest Ends when I get 50 reviews.

So get reading and reviewing....I can't wait to read them. And oh...I want them honest. If you really don't like them, say so.

E.L. James and Sylvia Day? OR Colleen Hoover or Abbi Glines? WHAT ARE YOU READING TODAY?

I don't know about you, but I get on certain genre kicks when I read. Like right now I am reading a Stephen King book. And I am looking forward to reading another Stephen King when I'm done with that, And maybe even after that. Mr. King pulls you in and makes you want to stay awhile.

But before reaching for a Stephen King novel, I was incessantly reading anything by Colleen Hoover or Abbi Glines - I love their young adult stories that aren't really young adult topics at all.  They make me laugh and cry and feel like I'm back in those ever-changing teenage years. But in the end, Ms. Hoover and Ms. Glines give me a story that makes me feel good. And that stays with me a long time.

Then there is my walk through Cowboy Heaven when I read Kathleen Ball's western romances. When I'm reading Ms. Ball's novels, I want to go buy a horse, hop on, and go find myself a cowboy. And with Kathleen Ball's novels, I get the Happily Ever After ending I so desire.

Sometimes I'll hop on the historical romance bandwagon and read myself some Jude Deveraux or Amber Dane. I love escaping back in time to an era I had never known. In my mind I put on my corset and gown, and wait for my medieval knight to return home to me.

Then of course there are the popular BDSM novels - anyone ever of heard ofE.L. James and Sylvia Day?

But my favorite genre to read is Young Adult Paranormal. I love Twilight. It will always be my favorite paranormal series. I adore Lauren Kate and her Fallen series. Another of my favorites is Laurie Faria Stolarz' Touch series. Alyson Noel and Aprilynne Pike and Stefan Ellery are another of my favorites too.

So that's my story.
What about you? WHAT DO YOU ENJOY READING? I'd love to know.

Smiles,
Julie

Daughtry-photo inspired flash fiction

He pulls in to the old parking lot.
“Why are we here?” she asks.
He’s silent for a second. “’Cause I didn’t want to tarnish any other…I have something to say.”  He shuts off the ignition and turns to her in the passenger seat.
She closes her eyes and nibbles her bottom lip, bracing herself for what he has to say.
“I…I don’t want you to be my rebound person.”
“I…I don’t understand? Rebound?”
“Look, my feelings for you have gotten so intense, I …I just want to be sure that they’re real. I mean…”
“You don’t want to see me anymore?”
He sees her jaw tremble and when her eyes open, they’re glossed over with suppressed tears. “Just until I figure out if my feelings are real…or if maybe they’re just me…you know, tired of being lonely.”
She turns to look out the windshield, unable to look him in the eye. But she doesn’t say a word.
“It’s because you mean so much to me.” He tries to reassure her. “I don’t want to start saying things that I end up not meaning down the road.”
She closes her eyes unable to deal with this. She’s lost so much already, she didn’t think she could handle losing him too. “Please take me home,” she mutters so low he barely hears her.
“Please, sweetheart. I am not trying to hurt you. If I don’t step back now, I’m afraid I might end up hurting you. I so don’t want to do that.”
She manages to look in his direction briefly, but then turns her attention straight ahead again. “I don’t…please…just take me home.” She can’t help but shed her tears now. They begin pouring down her face. She didn’t think she’d ever hurt again, after her husband died. That experience had killed her. But now…hearing this man say he wanted to end things before they even really began – it hurt. More than she could have imagined. Why? It shouldn’t even matter. He was no one to her. Right?
He sighs, holding back his own tears, and starts his car, whispering, “I’m sorry,” as he pulls out of the parking lot.
When they pull up to her house, she opens the car door, but he stops her by grabbing her wrist. “I really am sorry. I’m falling in love with you…and if those feelings are real, then I am happy to have found love a second time in my life. But if these feelings are stemming from my prior loneliness, wouldn’t you want to know that now? Before we take things any further?”
She wipes her cheeks with her sleeve and nods, still unable to say anything.
“I hope you’ll understand one day,” he whispers before she strains a smile and closes the door.
With a heavy heart, he whispers goodbye and watches her walk away.

Cowboy Heaven...

Stetson's Storm (Book Three of the Lasso Springs Series)Stetson's Storm by Kathleen Ball
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I am an avid fan of Kathleen Ball's, so I wasn't surprised to have thoroughly enjoyed another of her western romances. Her characters were multi-dimensional and real.

The reuniting of old flames Stetson and Storm was tender and emotional. As usual, Ms. Ball has us pulling for her heroes as if we were part of the story. The addition of little Scotty added a realistic feel to this once broken family's home life. I enjoyed the banter between Scotty and his father, and I savored the love Storm had for her little boy.

The recurring role of nasty neighbor Bailey was a nice touch (though I wanted to punch her again). Ms. Ball's villainess Chrissy was done to perfection. There wasn't a moment in the book when I didn't want to slap her across the face.

Stetson's Storm is Kathleen Ball's third installment in the Lasso Spring's Series and each one is a wonderful trip into cowboy heaven.

I Adored The Modern Arrangements Trilogy by Sadie Grubor

Here Comes the Bride (Modern Arrangements, #2)Here Comes the Bride by Sadie Grubor
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Here Comes The Bride was the perfect sequel to Save the Date. Oh My Goodness. Aidan gets even better in this installment of The Modern Arrangements Trilogy. He shows his sensitive and vulnerable side, and I am a sucker for a vulnerable man. The Author had me believing one thing through the whole book only to surprise me at the end. I also like the way she develops her minor characters as well - they are fun and believable. Though Aidan and Lilli were clearly the hero and heroine, Ms. Grubor's other characters were the perfect addition to make this feel like an ensemble cast of players.

Here Comes The Bride is a well-told story and very unique. I still think it should be Number 1 on the Bestseller lists (read my review of Save the Date). It's that good of a story. I cannot wait for the third book.
